Time for a little confession... this year I am loving fall flowers. I'm typically such a sucker for all things spring, and while I love autumn as a season, when it comes to the blooms I haven't always felt so inspired. (Except for the dahlias... those have always had my heart!)
Anyway, I think the biggest change this year has been experimenting more with color. For the longest time, I felt like my autumn designs had to look very textbook fall. Lots of reds, yellows, oranges, browns... And while I have nothing against that, it just doesn't feel as fresh or exciting to me a few weeks in. So this year I have been trying to step out of the color box that no one really put me in but myself, and embrace a much wider range of hues. It's been so liberating!
With the creamy pinkish--purpleish-whiteish-yellowish cafe au lait dahlia as my guide, I've been mixing in more purples (thank you ageratum!), hot pinks, brighter greens, and all the best textures and saturated colors the season has to offer. Maybe it isn't as groundbreaking for most folks but for me it has been like a breath of fresh October air ;)
So I guess my point is, whatever you do this season, don't feel boxed in or weighed down by what you think you are supposed to do... some widely applicable words of wisdom brought to you by the flowers and arrangements below.
